It seems pretty simple to set our goals toward success. Still, the process involves the use of many tools. A lot of people actually set out with a very poor toolbox in the beginning and they don’t reach the place they were hoping to reach. In order to have a winning plan for success in life, there are certain things that are just obvious, required tools that everyone should have if they hope to be successful person. At the top of the list is the ability to change your circumstances when you aren’t happy with the place you now exist. This requires the first tool known as courage.
If you plan to be successful in life, you have a choice to either accept your position or change it. You can’t decide to just plug along in your present condition hoping that someone else will change things for you. You have to create the opportunity in yourself to make a change and this requires courage. Often, people who are stuck in an abusive situation will feel as though they are trapped, controlled, and powerless to get out of that situation. They don’t realize that they have the same choice of changing their circumstances as anyone else. What paralyzes them is the fear of the unknown. They have become comfortable in their abusive situation and they don’t have the courage to break out of it. If you find yourself in circumstances that are obviously lowering your chance of success in life, then you need to change those circumstances. Courage is the first tool that will help you to begin.
After courage, there is another primary tool that you will need in your toolbox. The next major tool that is required is the willingness to persevere toward your goal.
Once you begin to apply the tool of courage, you will immediately be hit with a series of problems and difficulties in your new attempt to become successful. This is especially true in the first few weeks of your new direction in life. Because of this, you will also need the tool of willingness to persevere because courage may only last for a short time. Willingness, however, is a powerful tool that is even stronger than mere courage. It gives you the energy to keep fighting toward your success even in the face of difficulties and challenges. It gives you the ability to keep going no matter what.
Once you make it through those first few weeks on your new direction in life, you are going to need another tool that is even stronger than courage or willingness. You are going to need a solid plan that will be founded on your good sense and your capacity for reasoning and rationality. Courage is great and willingness is even better. These are great to begin with but a courageous attitude and striving ahead with the willingness to achieve success isn’t going to be enough. In order to get you to the top of the mountain, you are going to need more. Eventually, you will need a solid plan to keep you on track and to help you avoid all the difficulties you are going to encounter. You may develop a more rational and reasonable plan for success with a friend or by yourself but you are going to need that plan to be well thought out. Then you are going to have to go back and re-apply your willingness and your courage to put that plan back into action each day.
After a considerable period of time, working in a courageous manner with the willingness to persevere and to think reasonably and rationally in life, you will be well on your way to success. Many people make great strides in their life by simply applying these three tools for success.
What finally arrives as the cherry on the sundae, and which they eventually discover as the greatest tool of all, only comes after first going through the difficult times with courage, willingness and reasoning. Through the use of these three tools, a successful individual may eventually encounter the most powerful tool of Love and this tool may transform their life so as to make everything, which had previously seemed difficult, seem extremely easy and enjoyable.
Using the four tools of success, a person may eventually develop a toolbox which includes the greatest set of abilities a person can acquire. This toolbox filled with courage, willingness, reason and love will make a successful person of anyone and insure them of happiness and fulfillment in everything they do!
The Law of Attraction tells us that what we think about is what we attract. Put another way, the vibration or frequency of our thoughts emanates from us constantly, and changes as our moods and thoughts change.
The secret is to control or direct this vibration. When we are thinking about something and feel absolutely great about it; when we have clarity about it and do not doubt it, thought is sent out into the vibratory Universe like an arrow – straight and true.
The Universe, like a magnificent kaleidoscope, begins to shift everything required, based on our pure and undiluted desire, to put things in place to have that thing or situation manifest in our reality, in the best interest of all concerned.
So what happens when instead of utilizing and enjoying this process for the joy of all concerned, we instead settle in to just living from our choices in the past, and become entirely blind to the fact that the past does not really exist?
Answer: We live in reaction instead of creation; we live in a rut and so do not see that things can ever change – that WE can change them! How sad, and wasteful…look around you and you will see that this is the common way of thinking that surrounds you.
It is the nature of the human mind to analyze – that is the job it was born to do, and if we let it, this capacity for analyzation can become the only way we think. In fact, this isn’t thinking at all, because what we’re really doing is taking past situations – as we perceive them, which is another story in itself – and basing our current reactions on what worked or seemingly did not work then.
We must remember our minds are capable of performing the much simpler, yet much more fundamental and powerful task of being a part of conscious creation.
Imagine yourself as a three part being, made up of your spirit or essence, your body, and your mind, otherwise known as that which thinks. Your body exists simply as a physical mechanism for you to go forth and enjoy what you can imagine and therefore create. It is an ‘experiencer’. YOU get to think up fun things you would like to try, based on what you observe around you, and then go create and experience those things.
There is a connection between how you feel and what you get; feel crummy, get crummy circumstances. It follows that when you feel great, you attract more of those great feelings, along with more things that make you feel great. The beauty of this system is its’ simplicity…the better you feel, the better you feel! Therefore, the more you can feel great – about anything – the more of what you love will be attracted to you…it does not matter what you are feeling good about. What matters is your vibration.
Why not be a part of the light that awakens us all, and go forth and CREATE the life of your dreams, as you are destined to do? Embrace the creator that you are, and illuminate the possibilities for those around you as well. Go FEEL GOOD!

You may have already my article “Strategies for Effortless Business Success” – with the emphasis on the word effortless. In this follow up article, I want to explore what I mean by success – because most “normal” people really haven’t got the first clue what the word actually means in the context of their everyday lives. Bear in mind, of course, that normal people are technically insane – their subconscious mind controls them – not the other way around.
Many people, when they first hear me say this, laugh at the notion – but, I can assure you, that it is no laughing matter, for it is the normal perspective on success that has brought the global banking system to the very brink of self-destruction. It is the normal definitions of success that has brought the auto industry to its knees, left ordinary people with unserviceable debt and made life so incredibly difficult for so many business people. So, before we go any further, let’s understand that normal definitions of success simply won’t do.
A couple of years back, I asked a large gathering at a Chamber of Commerce business breakfast, if they thought that making abnormal financial gains and achieving abnormal business growth would be a good definition of success. Considering many people to have achieved that level of “success”, many of the participants made the point that that kind of “success” often comes at a high price – whether it be family life, personal life or even health, many people “gain the whole world” and “lose their own soul”.
Unfortunately, normal definitions of success are both comparative and competitive. Businesses compare themselves to the competition. There was a time when large accountancy practices measured their success by comparing their employee numbers against those of their competitors – to the point that one such firm employed extra gardeners to put them into first place on what was a completely mis-constructed league table. Life assurance companies construct their version of success based on the amount of new business growth – regardless of whether their new business was profitable or not (or even sensible or not). And banks measure their relative success on the “size of their balance sheet” – like bold boys going around shouting that “mine is bigger than yours”!
We all know where comparative and competitive definitions of success get us. What appears to be common sense has actually turned out to be complete nonsense. For your business, you need to know what success means for you (just as you need to know what your version of personal success is). Can I be so bold as to suggest a framework definition of real business success?
“We excel at what we do – and we do it effortlessly. Each customer is valued as if they were the only one (because we simply never know who will be the most important customer to us in the long run). We get very well rewarded and make the kind of margins that others envy. We don’t regard what we do as work – it’s both fun and it allows us plenty of “work/life” balance. The team is more like family – there are no hidden agendas, everyone’s open – we hold back on nothing. We’re constantly open to change and the next big opportunity.”
Perhaps, you think that’s an ideal and that an ideal world simply does not exist. You would be wrong on both counts.
Over the years – including quite recently – I’ve worked with business teams whose outlook and ambitions closely mirror what I’ve written above. Such businesses are few and far between – which, I suppose, means that they are abnormal! But, if you don’t want to be normal in your personal life (because so-called “normal” people are technically insane!) why settle for normality in business? If psychological research proves that normal business teams are dysfunctional, why settle for a normal business team? The vast majority of businesses range from dysfunctional to mediocre – the more successful are simply a little less dysfunctional and mediocre than everyone else – why settle for that when you can achieve effortless business success?
I refer back to my first article in this series – where I gave you four simple ideas on how to create an effortlessly successful business strategy, where we talked about seeing, feeling, hearing, smelling and tasting the desired outcome. I suggest you adopt that approach. In doing so, the things you will experience as a result of your abnormal definition of success will need to be encapsulated in that desired outcome.
When Napoleon Hill wrote his famous book “Think & Grow Rich” the world was a very different place. Things were slower. Competition was not nearly as tough. Although we live in an era where a man can start with less than nothing and build an empire does it seem to you that life has just gotten more difficult since those simpler times? Well although Napoleon Hill never mention it by name his book and the message in it revolved around one law. This law has worked for millions before Hill was born, worked for millions after it was written and will work for millions long after we are dead. I am of course referring to the Law of Attraction. So how come you haven’t got it to work yet?
The law states that things, situations, circumstances and even people are drawn into your life because you attract them. They are attracted by your thoughts and your feelings. The thoughts you hold and the emotions connected to them are what is referred to as your “consciousness”. It is your consciousness about any situation that activates the Law of Attraction.
The Law of Attraction is becoming almost a household term. There are few people who have not tried to gain benefit from using it and fewer still who have not heard of it. But there are only a small number of people experiencing the huge rewards they desire from its use. Why is this? Are you one of the fortunate few who have learned to utilize this all powerful law? Or are you one of the unfortunate ones who visualise their dreams daily yet receives little or no results?
If you are the latter then take heart because you are reading the very article that can help you to unleash the power of the Law of Attraction to create miracles in your life.
To be a winner in life – one of those individuals who succeeds and reaches their goals – it is essential you look closely as your belief system. Your beliefs determine where your thoughts are directed and your thoughts determine your emotions. It is this combination of thought and emotion which activates the great Law of Attraction.
Do you have problems in your life? Is your life filled with money problems, distructive relationships, bad health etc? Perhaps there are also areas that are working ok or even brilliantly? Most of us have a mixture of the two. Some areas in our life are working and some are not. If you are having problems there is a solution but before I explain what that is we first need to look at the areas in your life that are working.
Look at one such area and ask yourself how you feel about this. Try to identify what feelings come up as you do this. You will find that your thoughts and feelings are very positive around this subject area. Now, it’s easy to believe that your thoughts and feelings are positive because the situation is positive but just for a moment imagine that the opposite is true. What if the situation is only positive because your thoughts and feelings are positive? “Impossible!” you may say. Maybe, maybe not!
Now, look at an area where you have problems. I bet when you think of it you get a feeling in your stomach or tightness in your chest and immediately your mind goes into a downward spiral thinking of all the things that could get worse in the situation. Now do you feel like that because the situation is bad, or is the situation bad because you feel like that?
Are you willing to try an experiment? It takes courage. Are you sure you’re up to the challenge? If you feel you are courageous enough and have the inner fortitude and open-mindedness to conduct this experiment then let us begin!
The Law of Attraction can be summed up in one short sentence – you get more of what you focus on! As an experiment we are going top take an area of your life that is working wonderfully and we are going to focus on as many things as we can that are WRONG with it for 7 days straight!
As the Law of Attraction brings back to you more of what you focus on then things in this situation should start to get worse – a lot worse. Look for small things to focus your attention on. Let’s create an example but you should choose an area that is working well for you! Ok, so you love your job but that guy across from you who keeps picking his nose is really annoying. The 30 minute lunch break is nowhere nearly enough time to get something substantial to eat and let it digest; your workload is unreasonable etc.
Now, if the Law of Attraction really exists you should have a very clear sign of it thorough this little experiment. If you redirect your focus toward the negative diligently for seven day you will find little problems creeping in, probably from the first day. You will find that Mr. Annoying Guy’s habits get even more annoying, your lunch break will be taken up by unexpected events and your workload will be increased. This is not just selective attention; you will find that these things actually happen!
If you have the courage to perform this experiment you will have very clear evidence that the Law of Attraction is very real indeed. Before you have finished this experiment you should be already fed-up with the results. So, once you have satisfied yourself that the Law of Attraction really does exist it is time to put things back to normal. Begin to focus once again on the positive aspects of your job. Ok that guy is annoying but he did help you with a certain problem last week. Your lunch break may not be as long as a rival company’s but most of the people working there are miserable and at least you are doing something you enjoy. After all there are people out there that have to work at jobs they hate etc.
You will find that things quickly return to normal. But don’t stop there. Look for other positive things to focus on. Look for things in your life that you want to expand. Focus on those things and you will get more of them. If you want something that doesn’t exist yet then visualize it, feel gratitude that you already have it even if it isn’t there it. Look for things that affirm that it is on its way. Take pleasure is seeing others with the thing you have and feel the joy of knowing that it will soon be yours.
Soon you will find that the Law of Attraction can be your greatest friend or your worst enemy. Try this little experiment and then decide which type of acquaintance YOU want the Law of Attraction to be in your life.
One of my main concerns when I am helping people achieve their life goals is – How they measure success. I see individuals getting frustrated as they strive for that mystical term ‘SUCCESS’.
One of the main reason that causes this frustration is that people allow their definitiion of success to be determined by someone or something else.
They look to individuals perhaps in their own work environment or even in the news who are ‘Successful’ then look at their own life and determine because they are not the same as this person then they, the individual cannot be successful.
We should look at our own skills to determine what is successful to us. We should look inward to determine what it would mean for us to be successful in our own mind rather than someone else’s.
The key to ‘Success’ is all in our heads we should and must develop our own thinking about what it will mean to be ‘Successful’.
Too many times I see people try to be like the ‘Gurus’ who are earning perhaps millions and feel insignificant next to them.
They become frustrated at their own apparent lack of success when comparing themselves to these people.
We are all individuals with individual wants, skills and experiences. For one person success is earning $100,000 per year another would feel unsuccessful with earning $250,000, another ignores earnings and looks to tangible assets to meaure their success. Then there are those who measure their success not in monetary terms but in how they have helped steer children to a better life perhaps away from falling into street crime and drug abuse. Teachers of children do not measure their success in monetary terms but in the satisfaction from seeing children under their guidance achieve something in their own lives.
The temptation would be for teachers of children and others in similar vocational type work to think they are not successful because they are not earning masses of money in carrying out their work. The person who earns $100,000 may look at themselves and compare their earnings with the one who is earning $250,000 and feel lack of success. And indeed that person earning $250,000 who is to say they are not looking at the person who is guiding children and wish that they could have some of their success and satisfaction?
You must set out your own course to success by all means look to others as guides, even emulate what they are doing, just remember you cannnot copy them. Each of us have our own experiences of life and when faced with a decision we use those experiences to form our course of action. Emulating a successful person is looking at their pathway to success, their actions, their determination and translating that into our own experience to see how we can improve ourselves. Note the word ‘ourselves’.
You must set your own course of action, and stay on your course. You and you alone must determine what ‘SUCCESS’ means to you, fashion your goals on your interpretation not someone else’s. Do what you do to the best of your ability and the rest will take care of itself. For example I believe that I am successful but I am not a millionaire! well not in money terms anyway but I have colleagues who are. They may not see me as successful in their eyes but that does not matter it is how I see myself that is important to me and my life.
Here is the truth. Being a success is doing your best, not being the best. Success is not something you become – It is something you continue being.
When we get to that point, we will experience a lot more joy and a lot less frustration. And that sounds good to me!
Remember the great quote from Napoleon Hill “If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way.”
What is Thought Manifestation?
Thought Manifestation is the act of holding a certain thought, idea, or intention in your mind for a certain amount of time, and charging it with enough emotional energy. After all that, if the theory holds, then your intention should manifest in your life in some way. One principle of Huna, which follows this same system, is ‘Energy flows where attention goes.’Is this Hocus Pocus?
I suppose it could be considered hocus pocus by some, but I prefer to view it as science. If you apply an experimental viewpoint to this, you may just find that it really DOES work! What have you got to lose?Where should I start?
The first thing you should do (although it is NOT necessary), is to start practicing meditation regularly. You must train your mind to eliminate the negative self-talk that will destroy your intentions. It is extremely easy to mess up an intention by simply thinking “Did I do it right?” or “This stuff can’t be real” or “I doubt it will happen.”
Now, whether you meditate or not, you must start with a thought. Hold this thought (and nothing else) in your mind for at least one full minute every day. Preferably, hold it in your mind whenever you find yourself not doing anything or when you have free time. Give the intention your complete focus and attention. Think about every aspect of your intention. How will it feel? How will it smell?, etc. Think about your intention as a child thinks about presents on Christmas. Become excited about your intention; wait for it patiently, but anxiously.
You must KNOW that your intention will manifest. There should be no doubt whatsoever. An experiment is no time for skepticism! What are some examples?
Some examples of Thought Manifestation:
“I intend for extra money to come into my life.”
“I intend to find a new love interest.”
“I intend to receive a promotion at work.”
“I intend for my new business to succeed.”
(See the Section ‘The Blue Feather Experiment‘ below for a more specific exercise)
Your intentions should NEVER be used to harm others, or take something away from them. Chances are, this form of manifestation would not work anyway, and you may even incur some karmic debt. (If you believe in such a thing, which honestly, I think you should.
)When will I see results?
Sometime it varies, sometimes it will be clockwork. It’s all dependent on you; your mind, your intention, and your belief. Belief is a very powerful force. If you believe it enough, it WILL become true. The universe WILL manifest your intentions, it does this ALL the time. If your intentions are fear-based, ie. constantly worrying about something, then the universe recognizes what you’re focusing on, and manifests it.
——————-The Blue Feather Experiment
This is a simple exercise taught by Pohaku of Hunatrainer.com. It’s easy to do.
Create a blue feather: (taken from Richard Bach’s book – Illusions)
Make it a point, for the next 24 hours, to think about a blue feather as often as you can. Maybe even write it down – in a notebook or on a post-it note you keep on your desk.
If you can maintain this in your mind for a 24 hour period – within 48 hours you will experience a blue feather. Somehow, in some way, a blue feather will come into your life. You will create your own reality.

There is all the hype these days about the Law of Attraction and the process of manifesting your desires into your life. Basically the key to this law is that you will manifest whatever you desire. There are several contingencies that come into play when you want to manifest your desire. First you must be very clear about what you want. Your desire should be written out, for in writing it you will be able to be more specific and as you write you will get more clarity. If for instance you desire a lot of money or a certain car, you much be clear on how much money or what type of car, color and include as many details as possible. It’s like a target, you need to know what you are aiming your attention towards. You must also make sure that you know the feeling of what your desire will bring you. It is in the feeling, the emotional feeling that will assist you to work with the universe to attract or manifest what you want. This is also important because if you do not know how you will feel when you receive the car or the relationship you may get what your desire but still be unhappy. The feeling is very important for it is that energy that attracts your desire through the universe.
The other element that plays a major role in attracting your desire is your belief. We have beliefs based upon experiences in our lives. We experience an event, we perceive what happens and then we come up with an explanation of what the event means. Two people can witness the same event and had two totally different experiences of what happened based on their perception. Usually the event carries along with it an emotional feeling. This emotional feeling sets the belief within our being at a cellular level.
We have so many beliefs, some that serve us and other that do not. The thing about beliefs is that many are unconscious habits of doing and thinking which operate on a sub-conscious level. If your beliefs, either conscious or unconscious, do not align with your desires, chances are that you will not attract what you desire or you will have to work much harder at getting what you desire.
The final step in manifesting your desire is to let go. Yes, let go of the emotional connect to what you desire and let the universe deliver it to you. This is a tricky part. Because it has been said “ask and it is given” you expect this to happen right away. If you don’t see what you have asked for right away you may doubt that it will work. Many times our desires show up when we get busy working on other things in our lives and take our minds off that desire for a short period of time. When we do this our desires magically shows up in our lives.
As stated in Quantum Physics, as you observe something that which you observe will react to your observation. So if you are watching and holding onto what you desire too strongly it may prevent that from manifesting into your life.
So in conclusion the Law of Attraction goes like this. First you ask for that which you desire and get clear. Second the universe will do its magic to deliver it to you and thirdly you must let go and allow yourself to receive it. The Law of Attraction or the manifestation process is a law that works all the time whether for the good or bad, so watch your thoughts and feeling and make sure you let go and receive.
How does it feel to be successful in life? There was a saying that everybody has their own definition of successful individuals. Success certainly can be derived from having financial, health and emotional success in life.
Most of those categorized as successful can be seen as financially successful too. These individuals can either be business owners, real estate investors, philanthropist, football stars, educators or prominent figures in the eyes of the young generations. They have the ability to create tremendous and positive impact on others.
With different definitions of success, success can even come in the simplest form being able to wake up in the morning, spending precious moments with your loved ones and living the day to fullest. It is how you define success at the end of it. In financial success, there are so many lessons that one can learn from successful individuals to achieve financial success.
For example, a significant and important lesson to be financially successful, you need to understand the reasons why you want to be financially successful. The reasons can range from doing it for your loved ones, impacting others positively or living your dreams. Once you understand the reasons behind your drive to be financially successful, you will be highly motivated to achieve your financial success.
The second important lesson in achieving financial success is the importance of creating a plan or strategy and working backwards to reach the financial success. For example, Jane wants to achieve her dream of building a successful business that will enable her to inspire and reach out to the young generations to achieve their own success stories.
Her plan was to build his passive income by starting a part time business such as home based business and online business. With positive cash flow and profit earn, she will develop and build another of his business and invest in real estate.
With success in her home based business, own business and real estate, Jane cash flow increases and he finally becomes financially successful. With her success, she shared her experiences with the young generations on creating their plan for their own success stories. With her success, Jane was able to reach her goal of inspiring the young generation to create their success stories.
Thirdly, to achieve financial success, it is important to realize the importance of the mindset. The mindset to be financially successful should include the willingness to learn and understand that success path involves challenges and it involves a lot of wonderful learning opportunities and experiences.
The fantastic trait of the financially successful people is they are such great learners and even with their success level, they still continue to learn, inspire and make positive and wonderful contribution to people.
Imagine for a moment that you have in your possession a source of complete and total power. You alone can command the warmth of the sun, the fall of the rain, the turn of the tides and the direction of the winds.
What would you do with this kind of power? Would you abuse it causing the world to fall into utter chaos? Would you be benevolent and merciful, using your power to help the people of your planet achieve their ultimate potential?
Unfortunately (or fortunately, as the case may be) there is no way for a person to have that much power. Mother Nature controls the planetary systems according to her own rules and her own designs. You will never be able to have utter control over the environment you are inhabiting.
What if you could, however, have the power to determine the course of your own life? What if you could accomplish great things and acquire great riches just by using the power of your own mind? What if I told you that this does not have to be a “What if”. What if I told you that you possess in your psyche the power to chart the course of the rest of your life on whatever path you see fit?
Chances are you might think that I had been watching too much Sci-Fi and needed to get out of the house more often, not to mention my obvious need to expand my vocabulary, considering the number of times I have used what if? in this conversation. You would be wrong (about the Sci-Fi, anyway). Every person holds in their mind the power to shape the events of their life to achieve whatever end they see fit. This power is what is known as the law of attraction.
What is the Law of Attraction?
The belief held by many theorists is that the universe is governed by a set of universal laws; these laws cannot be changed, cannot be broken and apply to every individual, regardless of age or nationality. These laws are the riverbanks which guide the flow of their lives on its journey to its ultimate end.
The law of attraction is one such law. The law of attraction is the belief that anyone can determine their destiny through the power of their minds.
“The Law of Attraction attracts to you everything you need, according to the nature of your thoughts. Your environment and financial condition are the perfect reflection of your habitual thinking.” Joseph Murphy
The History of the Law of Attraction; Before we go too deep into the modern applications of the law it is important that you understand that this is not simply New Age nonsense (most descriptions of the law of attraction refer to it as a product of a New Age Mentality). The principles of the law of attraction date back far beyond the new found popularity of the New Age.
The immortal Buddha was actually one of the first to introduce man to the law of attraction. He said,”What you have become is what you have thought”. This was a principle that the people of the east were acquainted with for centuries before it began to sweep into the western hemisphere.
The concept of karma also may have drawn its roots from the law of attraction. Karma states that you will eventually be revisited by that which you have sent out into the universe. If you have practiced kindness and compassion you will receive in kind. If you have been deliberately cruel to another you will receive back into your life that cruelty which you have sent out. Your actions and thoughts morph into physical entities, causing the universe to react in kind.
The law of attraction began to gain popularity in the western hemisphere in the 19th century, as people began to appreciate the power of positive thinking and apply it to their life. This new concept was first introduced to the general public by William Walker Atkinson, the editor of New Thought magazine, who published a book called Thought Vibration or the Law of Attraction in the Thought World in 1906.
As you can see, the law of attraction is not new. The concept that thought can have a predominate affect on the course of a man’s destiny has been taught by wise men throughout the ages, and has given rise to a whole new era of beliefs.
Several years ago I was looking for a new person for my team. A person who had been helping on a temporary basis was going back to graduate school and I knew I would need some assistance on several projects.
Thinking about my situation on a Monday morning, cross-country airline flight I made a list of the attributes, skills, attitudes and circumstances for the perfect person for this role. I made the list as specific as I could, thinking about details that would truly make this person “perfect.” As my week of consulting began on the west coast I reviewed the list I created each morning. On Wednesday afternoon my cell phone rang, and I had my very first conversation with Traci Nolan.
She introduced herself and told me she had heard through a friend of a friend that I might be looking for some help. Our short phone conversation left me thinking that I may have indeed found my new team member.
I talked with her face-to-face on Friday. She possessed more than 90% of the things on my “perfect person” list, right down to details like being a stay at home Mom with a the desire for schedule flexibility.
Traci was a great team member, and we worked together for several years. I met and worked with Traci because of the Law of Attraction.
The Law of Attraction states that we are continually attracting things into our life that are consistent with the energy we are putting into the world.
I know that statement doesn’t seem very specific or tangible. It doesn’t change the truth or validity of the Law.
The reason many people don’t believe in this Law is that they don’t completely understand it, or they mis-apply it. The Law’s Three Parts
Many people think this Law is about visualizing what they want – getting a clear mental picture of their desired future. These thoughts are a very powerful part of the law, but they aren’t the whole package. You absolutely must have a clear mental picture, but it must be a picture of what you really want.
People misuse this part of the Law when they think about what they don’t want – like “we want to reverse the sales trend,” or “we want to reduce turnover.” In these cases you are literally attracting more of what you don’t want! We correctly use our thoughts when we think about what we want – a highly loyal staff or exceeding our sales goals.
The second part of the Law of Attraction is your feelings. The more we visualize our desired state – the more clearly we hold that picture, and the more we believe in that visualization – the more attractive we become.
Thoughts and feeling are powerful things. And even when people correctly apply the thought part of this Law and engage their feelings in it, they are still missing a key part.
The third part of the equation is spelled out in the Law itself. Attraction. If we want the Law of Attraction to work for us personally or professionally, we must take action.
Mark Victor Hansen and Jack Canfield had a vision and strong feelings related to making the Chicken Soup for the Soul books successful, but they also took action – everyday. They challenged themselves and their entire team to find five ways to sell books each day.
Were their vision and feelings important to the (continuing) success of these products? Of course. But without action they wouldn’t have met the ultimate success that they have achieved.
Thoughts, feelings, and actions; all in alignment. Put these three energy sources together, and you will begin to tap into the Law of Attraction. How You Can Apply The Law
You can apply this to any part of your life – including your work and workplace. Here is a brief synopsis of how to get started.
If you have a strongly held picture of a desired future situation, great! If not – start there. Create the goal or future picture.
If this is a shared goal, get other people involved in co-creating this goal with you.
Believe in that vision! See yourself in that situation, with the types of employees, Customers and circumstances you would have then. Make your picture as three-dimensional as you can. Literally see yourself having achieved the goal.
Once your belief is strong, help others build their belief as well.
Take action. Maybe you don’t know exactly what the perfect next step would be. So what! Take confident action, even if it is a small step, in the direction of your desired goal.
Now you have the building blocks. After that you keep repeating steps 3-5 with confidence.
Apply the Law by using all three of these energy sources to literally begin to attract the things you desire into your situation. Think about how you can use this Law in your work today. A Caveat
Recognize that the Law of Attraction will work, but only if you are ready to receive it on the terms of the universe – not your terms. This means that you must be willing to let go of your thoughts on exactly how or when things should happen. Do the steps above, everyday. The Law will work, just like gravity, but only if you do your part correctly.
Potential Principle – The Law of Attraction is as powerful as any physical law and just as real. When you understand it, you can use its power to change your life and your organization for the better.
