Starting an Online Business can be an eye opening experience, or more likely, an eye popping experience for most people. With each idea or training technique or video I watch, yet another thought crosses my mind of an ever increasing way to move my business forward. They all sound great! I’ve read, taken notes, printed material after material, and read and reread article after article in hopes of gaining a greater understanding of this online marketing business thing. These so-called experts and their ideas on paper, excuse me, ideas online, are smothered on every site you visit, every search engine, download, even online video you come across. They all want the same thing, your undivided attention. In my humble opinion, some of these experts have extremely valuable information to pass on, and others are simply wasting your time. Or so, I first thought. Just maybe I am wrong. Maybe all the information, reviews, videos, downloads, and ideas from the experts could be of use to me in some minute way down the road in order for me to grow my business. I have done the research and continue to do so to this day as I write this article, and I believe because of this effort I will be successful.
In addition to what you take from the rest of the experts on the net, I have a few more ideas of my own I would like to pass on to you. I think you will like them. I call them my Four P’s for success. Set your mind totally focused on staying ahead of the game by exercising patience, a positive attitude, a passionate desire to learn, and a planned out execution to exceed your goals and success will come. Below I will share with you two of my Four P’s for success, exercising patience, and positive attitude in part one of two articles.
1) Exercising Patience
Patience, as defined in Wikipedia, is “the state of endurance under difficult circumstances which can mean persevering in the face of delay or provocation without becoming annoyed or upset.” I love the meaning used here when it says persevering in the face of delay. Well, each of us has faced a delay of some kind or another in respect to how quickly we expect to achieve a certain level of success. I am probably right when I say all of as entrepreneurs get into the next best Online Business in hopes of returning a profit as quickly as possible. Sure that would be great if we could just snap our fingers and have money start rolling in. For most starters, it doesn’t happen this way, and did not happen this way for me either. I have always said, “If you are making money too easily at the start, you probably are not going to be able to sustain it in the long run.” It just doesn’t happen that way under normal circumstances in any business for that matter. Do not ever let anyone ever tell you or make you think that running a business from home is easy because you are being fooled. Working your business requires you to be incredibly patient for those sales to begin rolling in. If you are able to exercise this type of patience I am referring to, you will be able to cope with your eventual success in time much better.
2) Positive Attitude
Now to attain the success you want, you must have a positive approach, or mind set with your Online Business. This is my next P for success, positive attitude. When I started my own Online Business, I, as most people are, was extremely skeptical in getting into something “foreign” with very little insight on what it took to run a business of this nature. Sure, you can do your homework, research what has claimed to work for others, read reviews on what is worth your time and money to get into, or may even know someone personally who has done well for themselves working from home. But, in reality, what may work for others may not work for you at all, right? Wrong, it just may! I believe it takes one characteristic as far as your approach to a new business, whether online or not, and that is a positive attitude. That is it! No matter what happens, no matter how long it takes you or you think it should take you, no matter what the obstacles you encounter, no matter what negative feedback you get thrown at you from others, no matter what failures you face, by keeping a positive outlook you can and will get through it. I do not care where you come from, or where you are now, this type of attitude is the key to being successful. As I said earlier, skepticism is the minds of just about everyone who thinks of getting into a new business, much less a business online. However, with a positive attitude you will be amazed at what you can accomplish and how pleased you will find your results to be.
I have outlined two of my Four P’s for success in any Online Business you venture to start or join. Patience during setbacks, and having a positive attitude in everything you do are vital to being successful. These Four P’s I believe will automatically put value in your business whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or expert online marketer. In addition to the training techniques, research, and information you have already gained from experts in the field, my Four P’s for success should help boost your business forward that much more. I hope you will try these Four P’s in your own Online Business and just maybe, as it has done for me, your experience will go from an eye popping one back to an eye opening one!

Everyone wants to learn the secrets of being successful in life. There are many people who have achieved success in this world. We seek to know how did they manage to achieve it, so that we can become successful like they are. We read a lot of books about how people become successful, but yet so many of us are still struggling with achieving our own success even though we posses such knowledge. What is the mystery that is holding people back from the success that seems so elusive to achieve?
We are taught that to be successful, you must have goals in life. You must work hard towards them and you must take advantage of opportunities that come your way. You must take a lot of action and make lots of mistakes in order to learn from them. You must be disciplined and diligent in your work. You must think creatively and try all kinds of ways to get results. You must get to know the right people who can help you. You must believe in yourself and you must persevere all the way until success.
Thinking about success this way makes it seem like it is so hard to achieve. It seems to take a lot of effort and energy. It seems that success is something that doesn’t come to us, but we must fight for it. We wonder why life is such a struggle. Why can’t we just relax and enjoy living it. Why can’t we simply experience everything we desire in an easy and effortless way. It just seems so wrong that this is the nature of success. The truth is that it really is wrong to think that success is so difficult to get.
The reason why we have been taught all those things about success is because it has been studied from the wrong angle. There are people who try to study the secrets of successful people and to figure out what is it that they do to achieve big things. They try to study their actions and their characteristics. But they are looking at it from an outside-in perspective. They do not know what’s really going on in the inside of these people. Sometimes even successful people also teach from an outside-in perspective.
But when you look from an inside-out perspective, someone who appears to have persistence, is simply doing something because they have a great desire to fulfill an idea that they have. It is not that they are trying to persevere in doing something, but it’s that they just can’t stop doing it because it’s something they want to express or create. Perseverance and persistence isn’t even on their mind. It’s ridiculous to drive yourself to do anything at all. They are just being totally driven in the direction they are taking.
They do not try to set goals to achieve things, but they are following what is already in their heart to do. They do not go around searching for opportunities and grabbing any they can find. They simply do what their heart desires to do, and to go for anything that allows them to express more of it. Situations show up along the path that they are on to bring them further and to greater heights. They do not try to network with as many people as they can, but they simply relate with those they are drawn towards.
When you do something you are naturally drawn towards, all the energy, drive and opportunities will just show up to aide you along. That is because what is in your heart is your purpose. The universe has chosen and created you for a special part in everything, and it is directing you from within. The universe has also arranged everything necessary for the fulfillment of your purpose to be present along the path. You are not trying to create anything at all because it is all already there when you step into it.
People can try to set goals and work hard and do all the things necessary to achieve success and succeed at it. But they still won’t be truly happy and fulfilled when they achieve it. That is because they have set out to achieve what they think they should achieve when it isn’t really what they want. They bought into the world’s idea or someone else’s about what success is, rather than allowing spirit to guide them. True success is expressing what makes you happy deep down within and living it fully.
You can also follow your passion and do what you truly desire to do and still find it such a struggle. That is because you are trying to work at it rather than allowing it to work through you. You may be doing something you like, but end up doing it for something else rather than doing it for the pure expression of it. That is why many people who started out doing what they love end up being miserable because they strayed from the path. You must always remember to focus on doing because you love doing it.
The characteristics of success are what is observed when looking at it from an outside-in perspective. We miss the point when we are trying to model the ways by which successful people achieve their success when they are simply following their personal guidance. You cannot look at what someone else is doing and follow it to get what you want. You have to do it your own way by allowing yourself to be guided from within. You have to shine your own light just like they shine theirs. Follow your purpose.
We are taught that you must have the right mental attitude in order to flourish at what you do. But the right mental attitude will be present naturally when you do what you love, rather than trying to love what you do. If you simply do not love what you are doing, then you shouldn’t do it because it is not what the universe has chosen you to do. You must change to doing what you truly love because that is where your success is waiting for you to live it. Love comes naturally when you do heart work not hard work.
Time and Humans Experience Change.
Somewhere in time, Humans seem to have lost their way. People have forgotten there true selves. What would be your response if you continually heard your son complaining that he just wasn’t good enough to be successful. That he was hampered in some way and success was for only a chosen few. What would you say to him? “Son, you can make it”, or possibly “I know you have it in you to be successful”. Perhaps you already are in a similar situation.
Is wisdom the answer?
What piece of wisdom would you advise for him or anyone else in the same situation? Could you stand eye to eye with your son or daughter and make a rational argument for his/her future? Perhaps you could. Perhaps he would even take your advise to heart. Unfortunately in all too many cases a parent is left with unanswered questions him/herself.
Our first response is education. Get a good education and everything will naturally be all right. Even though education is important it is only a small part of the success formula.
There other factors
I believe our Lord and Father, wants the same for us. He says he provides yet we don’t understand or trust the offering. We turn away from the obvious and look toward defeat and desperation. People are so filled with mistrust they won’t accept because they fear there are terms. The saying “nothing is free in life” has people afraid to thrive.
Success is good for the Soul
Look what success does for people especially Christian. It teaches them to plan and make something worthwhile out of their lives. It teaches him stewardship, how to handle his bounty no matter what it is. It teaches adversity; in every success story there is some adversity. It teaches people how to be humble in the face of challenge. It teaches relationships; as family and cohorts become a motivating factor in their endeavor. And most of all, it gives a higher reverence and appreciation for Jesus Christ and our creator God, because without them, it would not be possible.
Even hardened non-believers realize and use Gods laws for success. A hidden, deep down truth is, most people are believers at heart, they are just lazy; they don’t get involved in Church because of non-belief it’s because of distraction, laziness and indifference. They just don’t get it and over the years have built up a callousness of life. It’s like computers, some people get it and some don’t but all are exposed to them.
The Inner self must be happy
Over the years it has become evident that the inner person is the key to success. The satisfying of spirit is the ultimate goal in any success challenge. Materially, it doesn’t make any difference, it’s only superficial. When that deep down hunger is satisfied, that’s when you know success has been accomplished.
The law is the law
Here are six of twelve laws that if followed will make you a more successful person.
1. The Law of Relationships – Imminence
Relationships is the number one law of God. He wants us to experience life to its’ fullest and our relationships play a great part in that order. When we experience good relationships with those around us we naturally are happier and consequently more prospers.
2. The Law of Attentiveness
We must be aware of our surroundings as well as our relationships. Being aware is spending the time necessary to attend to situations as they arise. Attentiveness broadens the scoop of attention to include the details of all conditions. Pay attention to details, is important to assure you experience all aspects of a challenge.
3. The Law of Information – knowing
We live in an information age and those who don’t keep up will be left behind. Information is power and power, when correctly applied, leads to success. You must know the rules of the game before you can play it. Stay informed, and productive.
4. The Law of Human Magnetism – Attraction
Magnetism is one of those obscure laws people seem to overlook. Through your demeanor, you can draw people and success to you. Your character is your brand and your brand is what is recognized by other people. In product marketing, good branding is essential to the product’s success. It’s the same with people. They must be accepted by their peers in order to tread the path of success.
5. The Law of Desire – Passion
Aha, passion the love of the game, the attraction of the mind. You must have a passion for what you are doing. Donald Trump says, “Passion is essential in the quest for success.” You must love your chosen field of endeavor, or else compliancy will set in and destroy your efforts.
6. The Law of Fortitude – Longevity
Most all successful people endured good and bad times before they became successful. Success does not happen overnight, it is a process. Success is a progressive act that occurs over a time span of days, months and years. There is no quick fix. If you are impatient, get a job, don’t chase success because you will give up before you catch it.
The fact is this, everyone is equal in the beginning. Some are born into and are exposed to success principles early in life. Some people are exposed to defeatism and become oppressed in their thinking. All are capable in the end. Success is a frame of mind an elusive lover that will leave you for another if not well attended. You must court success, being diligent and responsive to her demands.
She stands proud and self assured, waiting for a suitable suitor. She can be fickle and stubborn in her relationships, casting away even the most determined of suitors. A person who courts success must be determined and aggressive in his/her quest. He/she must not fall pray to false assurances and kisses of promises.
In the next chapter, we will discuses:
• The Law of Negotiation
• The Law of obedience
• The Law of perception
• The law of Direction
• The Law of Planning
• The Law of preparedness
• The Law of increase
Happy Trails
Success is a Mindset
Success is a mindset. What constitutes success for one person may not be for another. Success also spends broad spectrums encompassing societies as well as world events. So success is not simply an individual experience, it is an human emotion and a mechanical result at the same time.
For many, success is a driving force which propels them toward satisfaction or completion. There can be no satisfaction without completion because the desired result is satisfaction.
Satisfaction is an Internal Response
For the most part, satisfaction is an internal response. It lets you know when an action is approved. Success is approval or acceptance of a completed action. This says, success cannot be possible without some form of action. If action is the force of success then stimulus is its fuel. Stimulus occurs from passion, desire, or need, which stems from fear, love, necessity, or craving. All of these are factors which accommodate success.
The Eternal Quest For Success
Most articles on success deal with how to make a plan, the importance of commitment or making choices. Literally tens of thousands of articles, books, courses, seminars, retreats just to name a few, have picked success apart piece by peace. Success has been analyzed and studied for years with mostly the same results. Class room study does not make a successful person. It may be a contributor but not an end result
Here are seven more laws that drive success.
1. The Law of Negotiation – Agreement
In some instance, negotiation is necessary to gain success. When working with someone who holds power, you may have to negotiate for position. A good negotiator can initiate terms, bargain for arrangement, and satisfy agreement. The need to be a good negotiator is imperative in your quest for success.
2. The Law of obedience – Faithfulness
Lack of obedience is the number one killer of success. When a person can’t be true to his/her promise, the result is failure. Obedience is being true to the cause. When a statement is made, obedience carries it through.
3. The Law of perception – Realization
Without perception there is no realization. Perception is the understanding or view of a particular account. Your perception of the sought after goal draws a picture of desire for it. If you perceive it to be undesirable, there is no reasoning for acquiring If you perceive it to be worthwhile or worthy, then desire becomes action which becomes success.
4. The law of Direction
Another common reason for failure is loss of direction or no direction in the first place. You would not fire off in a rocket to the moon without first mapping the course and you can’t obtain complete success without first mapping how to get there. First you have to define the goal, set a course and follow the directions on how to get there. A goal becomes easy if you simply lay out its’ directions. Making a map helps but isn’t worth anything if you don’t follow directions. Like putting together a toy for your child, if you don’t follow the manufacture’s directions it will take longer to put it together or possibly you won’t assemble it at all. Be prepared to follow directions.
5. The Law of Planning
Planning for success gets you prepared for the journey. Your plan is your signature of acceptance for the realization of the goal. Success is a result of planning. I know, it’s been said a million times before, but that’s because it is true. A truth is always a truth and worthy of repeating. Take the time to devise a plan for success. Plan for exiting if things go wrong. Plan every step in the journey.
6. The Law of preparedness
Being prepared armors you with a sword of defense. Preparedness is protection against any foreseeable and unforeseeable events that might take place on your mission for success. The most well prepared person is the one who will win the battle and ultimately the war.
7. The Law of increase
The law of increase is one of God’s biggest laws. Every success is an exercise in expansion. The universe, population, highways, cities everything either expands or stagnates and dies. Success is a result or accumulation of expended efforts which results in satisfaction. Boy, didn’t that sound technical?
Natural Laws Govern Humans
These laws of God, given to Man are inborn forces ready to be used. Because man was created with God like qualities so he/she also is to implement these laws of promise. In God’s creation, sounds, tastes, sight, feel, emotion, imagination, compassion, and pleasure are all regulated to satisfy man’s every need.
God may have put a threshold on the senses of man but He didn’t remove the desire to excel. This impulsion to succeed drives humans to experience the creation through his/her relationship with it.
The Door to Opportunity is always open
While the rewards of life hinge on doors of opportunity someone still has to swing them open. There is no one simple answer to all the problems of the world, there are only responses to questions. Mediocrity deprives man of just rewards while the inner man, (spirit) cries for freedom. Regrettably, many people have no desire to succeed, living lives of desperation that are dull, drab and uneventful.
Wake up and Enjoy Life
They never truly wake up from their self-made fate. I know a man who died and they revived him. He said it was like waking up for the first time. His life experience changed in a heartbeat. Everything was new and fresh, and he saw life in an entirely new light.
Because his perception was from another place, he was able to see the opportunity of a second chance afford him. Colors became more vibrant sounds were crisper and everywhere he turned he saw opportunity. Before he saw only survival where potential reward was. God had gotten his attention in a very distinctive way.
Don’t fall into the arms of complacency. Make success your top priority.
Happy Trails
Manifesting is the latest “Big Thing” and buzzword. People seek out seminars, workshops and gurus to help learn the secrets of manifestation so we can fulfill our heart’s desire.
My manifestation guru looks a little different than most. She has a shaggy beard, 3 inch eyelashes, four legs and speaks no English (or any human language). My guru’s name is Sandy and she is my labradoodle dog.
Sandy’s absolute passion is retrieving tennis balls. She has a knack of manifesting them in whatever park or school yard we visit. Here are some keys to Sandy’s manifestation success.
1. Be Clear on What You Want
Sandy knows what she wants. It’s not a stick, a squirrel, or a pine cone. It’s a round, fuzzy, green tennis ball. If you’ve gone through a life challenge, like divorce or a business glitch, you likely have a laundry list of all the things you don’t want. To manifest your dreams, it’s critical to take the time to be clear on what it is you DO want. Create that picture and hold it as fiercely in your mind and in your heart as Sandy holds her beloved tennis ball in her jaw.
2. You Deserve What You Want
Humans have a unique ability for creating our own suffering. We wonder if we are worthy and deserving of our dreams. Dogs like Sandy do not. There is no doubt in Sandy’s mind that she is fully deserving of that tennis ball. Sandy throws herself into pursuit of her dream with no hesitation.
3. The Joy is in the Journey
Each time we go to the park, whether it’s raining or sunny out, Sandy is grateful to be outside sniffing around for tennis balls. She has a huge grin on her face as she looks up from the deep grass as if to say, “Boy, is THIS ever a lot of fun!” Let’s remember that the joy is in the journey, not simply in the attainment of our goals. Savor the process of discovery and be in the present moment. That is where the magic happens.
4. Belief is Stronger than the Physical Evidence
Sandy’s belief in her dream is unwavering, no matter how overgrown the grass is. Holding a powerful belief, even when the results you’re looking for don’t seem to come in, is critical. It’s your job to maintain and hold your belief and its vibration as strongly as you can. Despite a lack of physical evidence or faced with criticism or disbelief from people around you, hold your belief. You can never connect to a dream without simultaneously having the ability to manifest that dream into reality.
What does it take to be successful? What is success? How can I get there?
The best answer to the question of what is success is from Og Mandino: ” Success is meeting your goals.”
The answer to what it takes to be successful and how to get there is a bit longer: Success happens at that special intersection of passion, commitment, talent and persistence. Think of those four as separate paths that flow into one path – one powerful path that leads to success – in it’s infinite variety.. It’s a special place, that path.
That special path is different for each of us. It has to be – everyone of us is so special and different in every one of those four requirements. But we all have the capacity to arrive at our own intersection – again and again. What an exciting thought – that each of us can combine and align our special attributes in such a way to be successful – as we choose to define success.
It’s sad that so many people have had experiences that have taught them to be safe, to stay on the sidelines and watch, to hold their passions and commitments in check, to see how the wind blows. What an enormous waste of resources,on a personal level and on every other level. Those are the people that are the subject of Henry David Thoreau’s statement: ” The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.”
It doesn’t have to be that way.
The idea that there is the potential to exceed anything yet accomplished through a process of self discovery, discipline, commitment and passion is really exciting – and scary. What’s really scary is that it lies within each of our capabilities to grow and reach that intersection and do it again and again in our lives. We can do it at any age, under any circumstance, at any stage – and it’s not magic, it’s not a silver bullet, it’s not limited in any way.
Let’s walk down each of these four paths and see how we can get them to join together to create a level of success greater than any yet experienced.
Passion is the first path for a reason. It’s the emotion that leads to commitment. It’s the feeling that comes from the heart and provides us with the strength to dedicate ourselves to people, places, things, ideas, processes. It’s often the most difficult path to find, but once found, it can be the most sustaining and exciting. Passion is excitement, passion is enthusiasm. It’s curiosity, it’s wanting to share, it’s that spark that lights the fire that leads to commitment. The path of passion runs very close to the path of commitment – their intersection is vital to creating the foundation for success.
Commitment comes in many forms. The qualities of commitment that we are looking for start with positiveness; the conviction that we are committing to a worthy cause; the belief that what we commit to will result in a positive outcome, and will improve our life and the lives of others. There is no place on our path for negative, destructive commitment. Positive commitment sustains, negative commitment corrodes and destroys. Commitment requires that special feeling of being part of something bigger than self. If there is a single tipping point on the path to success, it is when that feeling of total commitment occurs – when, as Goethe wrote:
“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness.
Concerning all acts of initiative there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and endless plans: That at the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves, too.
All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamed would come his way.
Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it! Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.”
Talent is the path where the rubber meets the road – where things can be done – where action to create success occurs. The belief that anyone can do anything if they put their mind to it may be true at one level, but at the practical level of creating success, it hinders more than it helps. An example: without good eye hand coordination and excellent depth perception, no one is going to be a major league baseball player – nobody. They don’t have a piece of the puzzle – the talent – that is critical to success. If they persist in trying to a be a major league ball player, they’re wasting their time. Some people learn that lesson the hard way. “Experience may be the best teacher, but only fools can learn by no other” is a harsh reality. Others find out what they are good at, and pursue success from that more powerful place. You can have a passion for and a commitment to baseball, you can manifest that passion and commitment as a spectator, as a sportscaster, as a grounds keeper, as a General Manager or a players agent, or as an employee of the team, but as a player – not. The talent has to be there to be successful.
The good news – and it is really good news – is that talent requirements can be identified, talents already present can be identified, and, in many cases, talents that need to be developed can be – it’s exciting. Even more exciting is discovering a passion and a commitment that fits with your unique blend of talents – now that’s special. Whether it’s through experience, failures, successes, self discovery, or tools to help define requirements and capabilities, this is where the engine of success resides – in the talent to drive that passion and commitment.
And then Persistence, the centerline that keeps the forces generated in the paths of Passion, Commitment and Talent moving toward success. I have a framed saying from Ralph Waldo Emerson that I keep within eyesight . It’s a powerful message:
“Press On
Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not: unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education alone will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.”
Passion, leading to Commitment, fueled by Talent, and Directed by Persistence – the formula for success. And in this time of uncertainty and bad news, it’s so important to find or rediscover our passions and commit or recommit to them, develop the talent – the skills and abilities and motivators we need to make them happen – and then persist in meeting our goals.
That’s the package. Now’s the time. It’s not easy – but it’s worth it – in so many ways. Have a great 2009, and the best of success to you.
